CreweLive11 The Volume Festival Day 4

Drunken day. Caught a few bands and a few mates. Good fun. Here's AB with the coolest drummer in town.

Sunday 29 May 2011

CreweLive11 The Volume Festival Day 3

Right then. We started with Zeke + friends (pictured). Brilliant! A proper jam with musicians that met 5 minutes before the show. Great fun.
Then the awesome Moore and Ward. We will never tire of these guys. True class.
Next up, the haunting Christie. She really has the voice of an angel!
Then it went a bit awry - Mark Of 1000 Evils turned up without equipment, so we had to quickly source a bass rig and drum kit. We only lost 30 minutes though!
Then Firesuite. Hmm.
Headliners MuthaHumbucker did their usual. The crowd lapped them up! A great finale to the AB stage.
So, with the work done, we went to The Crown for Stan's birthday buffet!

Saturday 28 May 2011

CreweLive11 The Volume Festival Day 2

On the AB stage today - Tom Seals, Tom Taaffe, Phil Maddocks, The Coalition, The Slippery Hill Boys and Wolfcatcher. Lots of our friends came along too. A great day! Here's AB with headliners Wolfcatcher.

Friday 27 May 2011

CreweLive11 The Volume Festival Day 1

On The AB stage - AV dance act Iridal, solo singer/guitarist Hayley Strangelove and covers band Found Drowned. All went very smoothly indeed! Then we scuttled off to The Box to catch the end of the excellent Kid British and then to Square One for Matrix Club Mix. A banging day!! Bring on day two...

One More Sleep!

We're nearly there! CreweLive11 starts tomorrow. Somewhere in the region of 130 acts on 12 stages over 4 days. Mental.
The place to be is, of course, the Angry Badgers Stage at The Waldron.
We'll be there from early tomorrow through until close of play on Sunday (no acts at The Waldron on Monday).
Visit http://www.crewelive.co.uk/ for full details of the festival.
AB is busy packing the kit ready for load-in. He's taking loads of smoke fluid!!

Newbury VIP Event # 2

Tina Newbury premiered her music video at the brand new South Cheshire College. The video, for Junker's song 'Ureka!, She's Dead', is absolutely brilliant! Gash and Ed from the band were there, as well as all of Team Badger. There was a buffet too! Then we went to the pub.

Tuesday 24 May 2011

Newbury VIP Event # 1

Simon J Newbury's portrait exhibition VIP event at the Lyceum. Entertainment from Hayley Strangelove and Tom Seals. He gets about a bit, does Tom... Here's AB with Jules Hornbrook.

Monday 23 May 2011

RedShift Runabout

Here's AB in the new RedShift car. He wanted to have a drive, but his paws wouldn't reach the pedals. It was probably for the best; badgers are rubbish drivers!

Sunday 22 May 2011

Wigan Athletic

At The Imp today. A lunchtime show with Tom Seals entertaining a couple of coach loads of Wigan football fans, stopped off for beer on their way to Stoke.

Saturday 21 May 2011

On The Square

We provided PA for a promo event on Crewe Square today. It was to raise awareness of the CreweLive11 festival next weekend. Our mate Phil Maddocks, The Slippery Hill Boys and Tom Seals all took to the stage...
In association with VolumePR. Thanks to Cheshire East for the gazebo.

Friday 20 May 2011

IDC

Back at Square One afer what seems ages! Tonight we're looking after Iron Door Club who are fresh from supporting Turin Brakes on their recent tour. It's a pleasure to work with the affable Derby trio. Here's Nat, Sazo and AB with the lead singer... (yes, I know that Sazo's eyes are shut and that there's a lot of red-eye. Yaddayadda....)

Thursday 19 May 2011

Acoustic Colours

Acoustic Addiction #5 with The BlueYellows. Jonathan Tarplee and his band rocked the Imp with their quirky set. They're back in town next weekend as one of the many bands playing at Crewe Live 11.

Baby Badger and a Beer

After a couple of days of munching on bluebells BB decided he wasn't too keen them; so to wash the taste out of his mouth he's been having a cheeky beer in the sunshine. (Don't worry about him being underage -- there are special rules for badgers.)

Tuesday 17 May 2011

Grand

At the Lyceum for a photo shoot. Jaydot was taking a few pics of 'The Mighty..' for Toby. Here's AB muscling in on the shot....

Monday 16 May 2011

Baby Badger and the Bluebells

Did you know badgers ate bluebells? No? Neither did BB, but on a recent trip to the New Forest he gave them a go; apparently they taste a bit like Parma Violets, but don't eat them yourselves as they're a protected species.

Sunday 15 May 2011

Burslem City Voices Festival

Dayve and Nick were the headline act at the 5th Annual City Voices Words and Music Festival today. Around a dozen music acts and a host of poets performed to a packed house. DD and Nick played a tight set including two of the new songs from Dayve's 'Second Day' project. Very well received and a pleasure to play at. AB is pictured watching talented pianist Lorna Poole...

Saturday 14 May 2011

VVIP

A very busy day today. An extremely early load-out from Crewe Hall, a cheeky full English at Kettles then meetings with a whole host of people. We also squeezed in a quick visit to Jaydot's exhibition at the Lyceum. Toby Robinson from Volume PR and local band manager/radio presenter Tess Williams are pictured with AB at the theatre...

Friday 13 May 2011

Crewe Hall

At the grandest venue in town tonight for a wedding. We're doing sound and lights for Depeche Mode tribute act Black Celebration in the Long Gallery. Very nice!

Thursday 12 May 2011

Black Celebration

We're doing the PA for the fabulous Black Celebration DM tribute tomorrow at Crewe Hall! Woo! - get us!! It's a private do - a wedding, in fact!
AB is getting to grips with the new lighting controller ahead of the show. BC will have their lasers, so with our lamps and a bit of smoke it'll look amazing!

Wednesday 11 May 2011

Admin

Office stuff. Tons of emails and messages to deal with. The Crewe gig guide to update too. AB is sorting out posters to go to venues for the next run of shows.

Tuesday 10 May 2011

Maintenance

Busy doing a few outstanding jobs. Dan Badger did some work on the Badger Bus (but it's still got to go to the garage next week..) and Nick made a start on the jumble of broken leads. AB tried to hide in the toolbox. Lazy Badger!

Monday 9 May 2011

Crewe Live 11

Not long now till the awesome Crewe Live event. The Angry Badgers stage at The Waldron runs on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All the gigs on our stage are free shows, so we expect to see you all there!

Sunday 8 May 2011

Clever!

AB is very pleased. We won a wifi internet radio from our chums at RedShift Radio in a text-in feature during their FM broadcast. It's brilliant!! What an amazing toy - there's literally thousands of radio stations broadcasting from all over the world!

Saturday 7 May 2011

Slowfest

The first summer festival date of the year with DD. Nick and Dayve played a couple of acoustic sets at Slowfest 2011. Thanks to Zeke Slug MBE for facilitating this one!

Friday 6 May 2011

Railway

Foulplay returned to The Railway tonight. A good show, with Scottish Chris guesting on vocals. At least he kept his clothes on! SC stars in The Full Monty at Crewe Lyceum soon. See it if you dare!

Thursday 5 May 2011

Mighty

Acoustic Addiction #4. This time we enjoyed the superb Tom Seals. Surely destined for big things, the affable Tom entertained the slightly lairy crowd at The Imp. Next up, in a fortnight, our good friends The BlueYellows.

Tuesday 3 May 2011

Hanging

We spent the afternoon hanging Jaydot's portrait exhibition at Crewe Lyceum Theatre. Looks pretty good! The exhibition runs throughout May, so do take a look! Here's AB having a look at Simon's work.

Monday 2 May 2011

Badger Towers

It's another lovely day and AB is enjoying the view from Badger Towers.

Sunday 1 May 2011

Portraits

Here's AB outside The Lyceum Theatre. We're busy here this week setting up Jaydot's portrait exhibition. It should be available for the public to view from Tuesday(hopefully!). There's in the region of fifty portraits - some celebs, some not. All excellent images though, as per usual from Simon!
