Dangerous Dayve

DD's firmly back in the saddle now after his trip to the Costa Brava and is rehearsing hard for Friday's covers set at Sq1. He's a busy chap at the mo - tomorrow he's rehearsing with Liz Rozenfield. No rest for the wicked (and he's VERY wicked!)...

Dr Snuggles

Here's a picture of Sazo and AB with a true gentleman and local legend. Simon Mellor has been a drummer since drums were invented and has played with some amazing bands. He was with local act The Helicopters back in the 80's and went on to tour extensively with Tower Struck Down (along with Nick Badger) in the early 90's. Simon and Nick were also in the much celebrated party band PANTZ! for a number of years. More recently, Simon has drummed for the veteran supergroup Rock of Ages. He says that he's taking 2011 off from drumming to concentrate on other pursuits(!). (Drum)roll on 2012!!

Sandbach Transport Festival

A rare out-of-town gig for Foulplay. The band christened the new outdoor stage at The Market Tavern in front of a decent crowd. A great show, with new visuals, including lasers! Woohoo!! Here's our hero with Neil and Lee from the band.

Our Phil

Or so it seems! The amazing Phil Maddocks is firmly at the top of our artist roster. Tonight he played a great set at a very raucous Square One as part of the Unsigned Friday series. He's a busy chap at the moment, with a hectic schedule of radio and live performances in the diary.

Thursday, 14 April 2011

Inuendo and The Cat

At Sq1 for a live radio broadcast tonight. Paul Senior of local radio station The Cat hosted his 'The Alternative' show with special guests Inuendo playing live to the decent crowd. Here's AB watching the band.

Baby Badger By the Bridge

Unfortunately the weather's taken a bit of a nosedive but BB's layer of fur is standing him in good stead and he's back on the road again; here he is stood in front of Oxford's Folly Bridge, which eagle-eyed readers may have spotted briefly in the opening scenes of the first episode of the new Lewis series. (Yes, even badgers watch TV.)

Tuesday, 12 April 2011

Bring Out The Bass!

DD is back from his jaunt to Benidorm, so he's been rehearsing with Nick ahead of their acoustic show next week.

Monday, 11 April 2011

Studious Badger

Here's AB looking all intellectual. He's busy looking at the flyer from the Valve Rider gig.

Sunday, 10 April 2011

Mic Check. One, two...

We got some nice new microphones this week. AB is trying one out...

Saturday, 9 April 2011

Tube Passenger

A Double Picture Super Bonus tonight; Baby Badger got to go to The Box on his own to see the rather marvellous Valve Rider (with support from the no less marvellous The P.L.O.T.); regular readers may recognise Valve Rider's frontman par excellance as none other than Adam Ward who also does sterling work with Nathan Moore (another 25% of VR)...

Load-out

Here's AB contemplating the load-out from the Foulplay gig at The Brunny. Rock and Roll eh?

Thursday, 7 April 2011

Christie

Here's AB with the annoyingly young and talented Christie after another great Acoustic Addiction at the Imp; if they weren't so nice it'd be easy to succumb to jealousy! It's shaping up to be a rather special night so don't miss Jason Johnston on the 21st.

Wednesday, 6 April 2011

Baby Badger at Balliol

BB is still in Oxford, and after all this culture he thought he ought to get himself some learning so here he is at Balliol College following in the footsteps of luminaries such as Boris Johnson; Nobel Prize winner Baruch Blumberg; Rabbit, sorry, Rabbi Blue; Baron Bingham; Sir Benjamin Brodie (second baronet); and Aldous Huxley, notable drug fiend (and author).

Tuesday, 5 April 2011

Labour Guy

Here's AB with David Williams and Delia Smith. David was the local Labour party candidate at the last general election. AB was bending his ear about the lack of local badger ameneties. Or something.... ;)

Monday, 4 April 2011

Baby Badger and the, er, Badger

BB's thirst for culture continues, and it's onward to Oxford, seat of learning, city of dreaming spires, and home to this rather handsome specimen who looks surprised rather than angry...

Sunday, 3 April 2011

Dirty Angel

It's been while since these guys were photographed together. About 25 years in fact. Nick and AB are with Simon Gibbs, one of the resident DJ's at Square One. In a former life, Gibbsy was a singer, and a fine one at that. Nick and Simon were both in a band called Boomerang back in the 80's and Simon went on to front Angels With Dirty Faces, who enjoyed considerable success including topping the charts in Japan.

Follow The Trail

Slug. The Ex. Brilliant.
A wicked night with our friends from Slug. We followed the trail to The Corner Bar afterwards too for apres-gig drinkypoos.
Here's AB with the band...

Friday, 1 April 2011

Be Wise...

At Sq1 for another Unsigned Friday do. This week, The BlueYellows. Long time Badger associates and thoroughly decent chaps, they played a blinder. Good show!

Thursday, 31 March 2011

Baby Badger and The Bard's Birthplace

BB has been all cultural again today; turns out this Shakespeare guy is quite famous. This is the house he was born in... (Shakespeare that is; BB was born in a sett, obviously.)

Wednesday, 30 March 2011

Baby Badger and The Bard's Bird

Baby Badger is still out and about, and he's made it to Stratford-upon-Avon where some guy who wrote some sort of plays apparently once lived. This pictureskew cottage is Anne Hathaway's but she didn't seem to be at home.

Tuesday, 29 March 2011

Baby Badger on the Battlements!

Spring is here, and Baby Badger has ventured out in to the big wide world after a winter spent hunkering underground. First stop, Warwick Castle; here's a shot of him after he'd climbed to the top of the battlements...

Monday, 28 March 2011

Brit Award?

AB seems to think he's won a Brit. He hasn't. He's just at the library looking at CD's! Maybe next year.... ;)

Sunday, 27 March 2011

Badgette

Here is AB with Badger regular and all-round good-egg Sue Stubbs. One of our favourite people, Sue supports almost all of our nonsense! Cheers Sue xx

Saturday, 26 March 2011

We Weren't Scared Even Once!

Dantes Rock and Metal Club tonight mixing Eight Great Fears + Cupids Gun. Two decent bands and an overall enjoyable evening. Here's AB watching Northwich based Cupids Gun...

Friday, 25 March 2011

Saddle Up!

Square One again tonight doing the sound for Ponie Express, a four piece from Stafford/Uttoxter who played the usual indie with a few covers chucked in too. Support came from CTRL C, who were a very entertaining acoustic duo who the crowd seemed to really enjoy! Here's Nick and AB with two of the band...

Thursday, 24 March 2011

The Maddocks

Brilliant! Phil Maddocks was at The Imp for our inaugral Acoustic Addiction evening. Absolute quality. This guy can't be faulted. If you weren't there (and many were), you missed out. Big time. Next up, in a fortnight, the delightful 'Christie'. See you there!..

Wednesday, 23 March 2011

Blatant Plug II

It's our first Acoustic Addiction evening at The Imp tomorrow. Our guest is the amazing Phil Maddocks. Think Richard Thompson with a touch of Dylan.
It's a free gig (woohoo!). 9pm start. Please come down if you can.
PS. Steve at The Imp has some great cheap booze offers, so no excuses!
See you there!

Tuesday, 22 March 2011

Blatant Plug

Here's our hero with the posters that have just arrived for our 'Never Mind The Royal Wedding' bash on April 29th. Local rock-gods Junker + Chimps ODR + DJ Angry for £0.00!!!!!!
AND, the gig is going to be at the coolest venue in town - The Barn at The Crown.
If you miss this, you'll kick yourself 'til Christmas!!

Monday, 21 March 2011

Chuffed!

AB is very pleased today. Angry Badgers are in the paper! Local rag C&N Guardian have run with an article about the Acoustic Addiction gig that we're doing on Thursday (event - https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=184853094889576 ) (article - http://www.creweguardian.co.uk/news/8909821.Acoustic_Shows_At_The_Imp/?ref=mr ) If you're free, do pop down. This is going to be a great gig featuring the excellent singer/songwriter Phil Maddocks.

Sunday, 20 March 2011

Stairway To Heaven

At Nantwich Town Football Club last night for a private party. It was Nic's 40th (not Nick Badger, he's only 24). A great night, with Nige guesting on drums for an impromptu rendition of Ziggy!..

Saturday, 19 March 2011

Yes, We've Got A Video!

At the Junker video shoot today with TMW. It was shot at Tom's ChuffChuff(?) warehouse venue. Angry Badgers provided illumination and wit. We also took Gash to have a gander at the barn at The Crown that we're using for the Royal Wedding bash. And we had a pint too.

Friday, 18 March 2011

Scoff

Well, we should have been at SQ1 tonight for another Unsigned do, but the band cancelled so we stayed at home. Here's an old pic of AB with soul DJ extraordinaire Andy Scoffin. We've an early start tomorrow for the Junker video shoot. Exciting eh?!

Thursday, 17 March 2011

Who's an Ass?

We recently did some work on the Badger Bus. Not so sure about this, AB!...
And who's got a Rack? Hehe..

Wednesday, 16 March 2011

Blast From The Past

Here's AB and Nick with one of the finest drummers that Crewe's ever had. (Hi-)Hats off to Pete Maden!

Tuesday, 15 March 2011

Purple Monkey

AB went to see our friend at Purple Monkey, who prints tee shirts and stuff on the market. Not to be confused with Ginger Monkey, the tattooist!

Monday, 14 March 2011

Rock Chicks

Here's AB with three of our favourite girls! Max, Bev and Sazo Badger. Bev sang with Vermillion Hair a while back. We've got their Peter Powell Radio One session somewhere....!

Sunday, 13 March 2011

Mojo Jim

Here's AB posing with Mojo Jim, a fine blues man from deepest Wales!

Saturday, 12 March 2011

Apollyon + Chimps = Top Night!

At Dantes Rock and Metal Club. A new venue for us and two new bands to mix. First on, Chimps On Death Row, who are going to be playing our Royal Wedding shindig in April. Then, Apollyon, from the Wirral. A great night. Both bands were very good and the decent crowd were very appreciative. Thanks go to Pod for his hospitality. AB is pictured watching CODR.

Friday, 11 March 2011

Yin

At The Imp tonight for a Foulplay gig. A heaving pub, much beer and much fun. Here's AB with Scottish Chris and Emily. Too much beer me thinks...!

Thursday, 10 March 2011

Ex-Drummer Ex-Pat!

Here's Sazo Badger, AB and Shoey, the ex-Foulplay drummer. Shoey was back for a short break and came to check up on us!

Wednesday, 9 March 2011

Just Good Friends

Here's AB with two of our best friends. Marie and Stef. Stef's quite a bass player on the quiet! Anyway, we promised to post this pic, so here it is!!! We hope that we see you soon guys! x

Tuesday, 8 March 2011

The Power Of The Press

I wonder what caught AB's eye? It must be true if it's in the papers! Hehe...!

Monday, 7 March 2011

Moore & Ward

A quiet day today after yesterday's marathon acoustic all-dayer. Here's a pic of our hero with Nathan Moore and Adam Ward, two very good friends of ours.

Sunday, 6 March 2011

Acoustic Lounge

At The Box today for our Acoustic Lounge event. A cracking day, with some fantastic musicians performing. Thanks to all those involved. Here's AB listening to the superb Christie Bratherton and Tom Chambers.

Saturday, 5 March 2011

Scared Badger!!!

At The Fox in Elworth tonight for an acoustic show from DD, Nick Badger and Dan Logan. A great night. A good number of regular fans turned up, the locals were friendly and there was a buffet too. AB was a bit startled by the fox though! Ooo-err!!

Friday, 4 March 2011

Proud?

Back at what seems to be home these days! Square One Unsigned Friday hosted half of Proud Proud People. We were expecting the full six-piece band; no-one had thought to reply to our requests for information prior to the show, and we actually ended up with an acoustic trio of guitar, vocals and trumpet. A late soundcheck, then two sets, interrupted by the guitarist's bleeding finger....

Thursday, 3 March 2011

Dead Skunk

Here's AB with the amazing blues and slide guitarist Pete 'Snakey Jake' Johnson and his dead skunk in Pete's shop - Custom Amplification. An absolute legend (Pete, not the skunk!).

Wednesday, 2 March 2011

Local Leg End

Here's AB with Mr Lee Belsham. One of the area's finest musicians, Lee played bass with the awesome Dr Phibes and the House of Wax Equations. Lately he's been playing guitar with Mad Dog Bryn Davies and bass with the now-demised Rock Of Ages. He's probably the nicest man we know, so quite why he's snarling at AB is anyone's guess!

Tuesday, 1 March 2011

Logan's Run

At Orchard Studios (http://www.orchard-studios.co.uk/) tonight to rehearse with a full band (Nick, DD and Dan Logan) ahead of the DD show at The Fox on Saturday. It went rather well, with only 30(!) songs to learn sharpish! AB is keeping an eye on things from the Control Room.
